The Art of Silvio Amurrio
I am Javier Silvio Amurrio, I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I reside in Virginia, United States of America. I am a visual artist and restorer. I entered into the world of art at eight years old, when my interest in drawing began and I never ended up stopping. My passion for art consumed me, and with the passing of time I delved deeper into the subject matter while expanding my knowledge.
Now living in the United States, I built a path for myself so that I could work professionally in what was my passion, and therein came the opportunity to study at The Art League in Alexandria, Virginia, as well as in Maryland. It took a lot of time and dedication to perfect myself in this discipline, the language barrier made it more difficult as well. However, these obstacles did not impede me from advancing, as the world of art is immense and learning is a day-to-day process. I was lucky to study with great artists and I will always be grateful for that. I feel proud that with my effort I was able to achieve the recognition of 2014 Craftsmanship Award from the Washington Building Congress.
My art is based on abstract realism and I bring it to life mainly through oil paints. I am also a sculptor in my free time, and handle patina and false finishes for any type of decorative work.
Recently, I finished working on the restoration of the National Bank in Washington, D.C, a process that has left me with a great satisfaction. This type of work is only possible every 100s of years, which showcases how meticulous the work must be to be etched for a century.
Art is the power of expression, and that is what keeps me passionate in this career. Personal expression must be supported by a life filled with emotions, studies, and discipline. Study regardless of life itself, help construct a bridge between the eye and hand. With each pencil stroke a piece of art comes to life from the deepest part of my heart. Creating art helps me reveal the secrets of universal laws, a way to provide balance and harmony in my life. As an artist, my objective is to transmit emotions and inspire each and every person to appreciate the world of art just a little more than they have before. Art can transport you to a world of infinity.
